An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB/GYN, can be a woman’s medical confidante for most of her life. Let’s face it: This is a doctor whom you’re going to be getting up close and personal with.

An OB/GYN is a physician specialist who provides medical and surgical care to women, and who has specific expertise in pregnancy, childbirth, and reproductive disorders. Whether you are expecting a baby or are just looking for general primary and preventive health care, the right OB/GYN may be the most important health care partner you ever have as a woman.

Essential for many women is finding an OB/GYN whom they have a good rapport with. As a patient, it is important to have a close relationship with your doctor. It’s comforting to know that she knows you, is familiar with your background, and keeps a close eye on your progress.

Since opening her practice, Dr. Kristine Eule, a board certified OB/GYN, has played a central role in some of the most private aspects of her patients’ lives. She emphasizes the significance of trust and comfort between she and her patients. For Dr. Eule, developing close relationships is the most rewarding part of her work. “I like the bond I form with my patients, and I get really attached to them,” she says.

Her interest in issues pertaining to women’s health is what motivated her to pursue this particular area of medicine. She advocates for women’s health, and says she believes it is essential before, during, and after pregnancy for a woman to place a high priority on her physical well-being.

I recently met with Dr. Eule, and the first thing that stood out for me was her kindness and warmth. She seems to have a soft and genuine presence. Throughout the course of our conversation, she continually alluded to the importance she places on individualized attention and compassionate care.
Many doctors today are overworked and inundated with far too many patients. One of the biggest red flags that you might be dealing with when you have an inadequate doctor is a lack of communication. Frequent and honest communication between the doctor and his or her patients is imperative to receiving the best medical care possible, Dr. Eule says. A medical doctor should never cut you off or assume that he or she knows the problem before you can thoroughly explain your symptoms; this can result in improper treatment and a misdiagnosis. No matter how busy a doctor is, it is necessary for the patient to take the time to hear about your symptoms and concerns, Dr. Eule adds.

Dr. Eule goes on to say that she understands that the most important conversations about your health and wellness begin with listening. In her practice, she combines old-fashioned personalized care with the medical field’s most sophisticated treatments. By spending quality time with each patient, she ensures that all of their questions are answered without the patient feeling rushed. Dr. Eule says she considers it a privilege to provide each of her patients with the highest level of care available.

An undergrad at Cornell Medical School, Dr. Eule’s attraction to medicine and desire to “truly help people” developed in adolescence. “Since high school, I knew,” she explains. She attributes her interest in this particular field to her father, Dr. John Eule. Dr. John Eule is a Denver radiologist, and he had a profound impact on the life course of Dr. Eule and her brother, James, who is also a doctor.

Dr. Eule’s military background has also influenced her progress as a doctor. She received her medical training and attended grad school at the prestigious Chicago Medical School. She completed her internship at Fitzsimmons through the U.S. Army, along with completing her residency in El Paso at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. As a First Lieutenant in medical school, Dr. Eule moved up in rank to a Captain and eventually a Major. She was the recipient of a Health Professions Scholarship, which paid for the last three years of school. Dr. Eule says her military experience taught her some highly desired skills and traits. “It was great to learn from this experience. It made me a stronger person.”

As a mother to 7-year-old Michael, she says she understands the trials and tribulations of balancing a family and a career. Dr. Eule constantly seeks to maintain that balance within her own life, she adds.

Pregnancy and childbirth are very exciting times and are life-changing events, but they can also be extremely stressful. The advantages of partnering with a good doctor are infinite, but the number one advantage is their expertise, Dr. Eule comments. Should a problem occur, they are well-educated and equipped to handle it. With Dr. Eule’s experience and knowledge, she knows how to treat a high-risk pregnancy, as well as a low-risk pregnancy. If you are unable to get pregnant, she says she will help you to explore each of your options in a comfortable and personalized environment.

If it is important to you to have your baby delivered by the same doctor you’ve seen for your prenatal visits, you may be happier with a smaller practice like Dr. Eule’s. You will probably also have more consistency with appointments and exams at this type of office.

Dr. Eule’s practice in Greenwood Village offers a wide array of services, including well woman exams, adolescent care, preconception counseling, prenatal care, ultrasounds, STD checks, birth control, and minimally invasive surgery.

Fairly new to the types of permanent birth control available is the Essure procedure. Approved by the FDA in 2002, Essure provides a permanent type of birth control that doesn’t involve surgical procedures or incisions. Dr. Eule explains that a flexible device known as a micro-insert is inserted into the fallopian tubes. Once body tissue grows into it, blockage in the fallopian tubes prevents fertilization by blocking the sperm from reaching an egg. A fast and painless treatment, many women can return to their normal activities within 24 to 48 hours of having the procedure done.

Your OB/GYN can be a great resource for you and your partner. By maximizing this important relationship, the patient can have a more pleasant pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Dr. Kristine Eule says she is committed to providing women with comprehensive health care and education, as well as helping them to lead healthier lives.
